About Me

I build and operate websites. Well, that’s not exactly true. I do very little of the actual coding. I’m more of the idea guy, the operations guy, the monetization guy. For the most part, I leave the engineering to those who actually know what they’re doing. Occasionally I get my hands dirty under the hood. I built this site for example. Although I must admit that slightly customizing a great WordPress theme and adding a few plug-ins isn’t exactly rocket science.

Professionally, I’m a versatile, analytical and entrepreneurial Internet executive with a proven record of driving growth and providing strategic direction for Internet and technology companies. I have a strong blend of business operations and business development experience, combined with a deep knowledge of all the disciplines involved in building and operating profitable websites and businesses. I’m decisive, creative and innovative. I get things done.

Currently I run Camp 5 Media, an online media company that owns and operates consumer search and directory websites. I’m responsible for pretty much everything outside of engineering, including identifying strategic opportunities, spearheading all business development activities and managing day-to-day operations.

Previously I was a senior executive at Marchex, an online search and advertising company. Most recently, I was Vice President of the Directory Services business unit and previously I was General Manager of the goClick business unit. In these capacities, I consistently delivered growth and profitability ahead of plan by developing new business relationships, implementing new business initiatives, integrating acquisitions and effectively managing rapid growth.

I also have held corporate development and corporate counsel positions with Hutchison Whampoa, T-Mobile and InfoSpace. I began my career as a business attorney with Perkins Coie and Bogle & Gates law firms, advising companies on business issues and handling corporate transactions.

I live in Seattle with my wife and two young children. We spend as much time as possible in Sun Valley. I’m a skier, telemarker, mountain biker, aspiring golfer, sometimes fly fisherman, gadget freak and triathlete.
